Our plans to install two new
Lely A3 robotic milking systems and a building to house them
are under way. The benefits of the robots will be the
ability to track milk production with every quarter
separately being recorded with milking. This will allow me
to catch sick cows quicker; it also checks for high somatic
cell in each quarter every milking. Another feature that
will help with management will be the upgrade to pedometer
tags to help with heat detection; full body weight is also
recorded every time the cow walks into the robot. The units
average 2.7 to 3.2 milkings per day so we will be able to
increase the milk production because now we only milk twice
a day. The main reason for wanting to install them is the
poor reliability of our employees over the past six years
has been very stressful.
Check back each week to watch the progress of our development!
